Areas of Interest

Umit Akirmak completed his dual major in Philosophy and Psychology at Boğaziçi University and obtained his master's and doctoral degrees in Cognitive, Neuroscience, and Social Psychology from the University of South Florida. He has been working as a faculty member in the Psychology Department at Istanbul Bilgi University since 2009. From 2010 to 2014, he served on the board of the Turkish Psychological Association. 

His expertise lies in the field of memory and cognitive psychology. In addition to his research on the impact of prior knowledge on episodic recall, he continues to conduct scientific studies in the areas of time perspective and psychometrics. His work has been published in international journals such as Memory & Cognition and Personality and Individual Differences, as well as in national journals like Turkish Psychological Journal and Turkish Psychological Articles.
