J.H.H. Weiler is University Professor and European Union Jean Monnet Chair at NYU Law School. He serves as Director of The Straus Institute for the Advanced Study of Law & Justice and The Jean Monnet Center for International and Regional Economic Law & Justice. He was previously Professor of Law at Michigan Law School and then the Manley Hudson Professor of Law and the Jean Monnet Chair at Harvard Law School. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He is a Reporter of the American Law Institute (International trade: WTO).
He is the Editor-in-Chief of The European Journal of International Lawand the International Journal of Constitutional Law. His recent publications include Un'Europa Cristiana(translated into nine languages), The Constitution of Europe (translated into seven languages), and a novella, Der Fall Steinmann.
One of the topics of his specific interest is the influence of (Christian) church on European integration. Weiler contributes to the legal theory of European integration, he writes on many areas of EU law (internal market, external relations, social law, and above all, institutional law). He is a particular authority on the role of the European Court of Justice.

Miguel Maduro is Professor and Director of the Global Governance Programme at European University Institute. He served as Advocate General for the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg from 2003 to 2009. He specializes in European Union law, international economic law, constitutional law and comparative institutional analysis. He has been a visiting professor at several academic institutions including Yale Law School, the University of Chicago Law School and the London School of Economics. Professor Maduro is a graduate of the European University Institute and the University of Lisbon. Born 1967; degree in law (University of Lisbon, 1990); assistant lecturer (European University Institute, 1991); Doctor of Laws (European University Institute, Florence, 1996); visiting professor (London School of Economics; College of Europe, Natolin; Ortega y Gasset Institute, Madrid; Catholic University, Portugal; Institute of European Studies, Macao); Professor (Universidade Nova, Lisbon, 1997); Fulbright Visiting Research Fellow (Harvard University, 1998); co-director of the Academy of International Trade Law; co-editor (Hart Series on European Law and Integration, European Law Journal) and member of the editorial board of several law journals; Advocate General at the Court of Justice from 7 October 2003 to 6 October 2009.
