Application Process for University of London Honours Programmes (2025-2026)
Admission Requirements For Honours Programmes
1. Academic Background and Application Eligibility
- The student must be applying to the Honours Programmes for the first time.
- Istanbul Bilgi University students must have successfully completed all courses in the first two semesters of their undergraduate programme and have obtained at least 60 ECTS credits. (If a student has been exempted from any courses, the required total ECTS credits will be adjusted accordingly.)
- For external transfer (lateral and vertical) students: The student must have successfully completed all courses in the first two semesters of their previous university’s curriculum and have obtained at least 60 ECTS credits. The course content of these students will be evaluated by the Honours Programme Committee. If the courses are deemed insufficient, the application will not be accepted.
2. Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) Requirement
Applicants must meet the following minimum CGPA requirements:
- For students applying to the Honours Programme associated with their undergraduate programme (i.e., Economics students applying to the Economics Honours Programme or Economics and Finance students applying to the Economics and Finance Honours Programme) CGPA should be minimum 2.70/4.00.
- For all other students (including external transfer students) CGPA should be minimum 3.00/4.00.
- For Double Major applicants : CGPA should be minimum 3.50/4.00.
3. Mathematics Competency
- The student must have obtained a minimum B- grade on average in mathematics courses taken at Istanbul Bilgi University.
- Students who do not meet this requirement must have completed their last-year mathematics courses in the high school with a minimum average of 70/100 and must score at least 60/100 on the mathematics part on the preparatory camp exam.
4. English Competency
The student must obtain at least the minimum required score from one of the following exams:
- BILET Level 5 AT: 70 (The BILET certificate must include the Level 5 AT exam score.)
- TOEFL: 87
- FCE: B
- CAE: C
- CPE: C
- KPDS/ÜDS/YDS/YÖKDİL: 75
- PTE Academic: 70
Note: TOEFL Home Edition and IELTS Indicator tests are not accepted. Exams taken outside Turkey must be conducted in an authorized test center and in a proctored environment.
5. Preparatory Camp, Exam, and Interview
- The preparatory camp, which includes mathematics and microeconomics courses, will be conducted online and asynchronously. Students must complete the online camp within the designated period and take the face-to-face preparatory course exam and interview at the end of this period on the designated time and place.
- Participation in the exam and interview is mandatory. Applications of students who do not attend those will be considered invalid.
- Students whose undergraduate programme is not associated to the Honours Programme they are applying to, Double Major (ÇAP) applicants, and external transfer students must receive a passing grade from the exam and interview to be accepted to the programme.
6. Scholarship Application Requirements
- The student must have a minimum CGPA of 3.50/4.00.
- The student must have been admitted to Istanbul Bilgi University with a 100% ÖSYM Scholarship.
- For Double Major (ÇAP) students, the Honours Programme must be the primary major.
- External transfer (lateral and vertical) students cannot apply for scholarships.
Scholarship applications are evaluated based on academic success and financial need. Scholarship quotas are determined annually by the Board of Trustees.
7. Important Notes
- All courses in the Honours Programme are compulsory. Students applying in their 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th semester cannot count the courses they have taken after their 2nd semester towards the Honours Programme curriculum.
- Students can pursue a Double Major (ÇAP) with the Honours Programme through two different pathways:
- Applying to the Associated Programme First: Students can first apply to a double major in the undergraduate programme associated with the Honours Programme and later add the Honours Programme as their second major.
- Transferring to the Honours Programme First: Students can first transfer to the Honours Programme and then add their original undergraduate programme as their second major.
- Before applying to the honours programme, all students who needs any type of transfer, should consult theStudent Support Services regarding preservation of the status of their ÖSYM Scholarship in case of a transfer. The conditions for transfers and scholarship eligibility are determined annually by the Board of Trustees.
- Admission to Honours Programmes does not necessarily mean admission to UoL. UoL evaluates each application independently.
Application Process:
Students can apply to the program by sending the following documents to econhonours@bilgi.edu.tr via email. Incomplete applications will be evaluated conditionally only if the candidate’s CGPA for first-year courses is not finalized yet or if the candidate does not have the required language score at the time of the application. Candidates must submit these documents by the designated date to be able to complete their application process. Otherwise, their applications will be considered invalid.
- Statement of Purpose: (Minimum one-page long, written in English),
- PROFILE (to be printed from Student Page),
- COURSE STATUS (to be printed from Student Page),
- If any, National Exam Score Documents,
- Official documents showing English Competency,
- If the candidate cannot fulfill the requirement of a minimum of B- grade on average in mathematics courses taken at İstanbul Bilgi University, he/she should provide an official document (e.g. transcript) showing Mathematics course grades in the final year of schooling before university entrance. The document should be prepared in English.
- A copy of the “Internal transfer application form”, which you handed in to the Student Affairs Office (For students who needs a transfer)
- Application Form
- Scholarhip application form and supporting documents.
- If the student applies to one of the Honours Programmes as a second major, the student, the student must apply for a second major to the program to which Honours Program is affiliated before applying to the Honours Program. A photocopy of the DOUBLE MAJOR APPLICATION FORM, submitted to the Student Affairs Office, should be added to the application file.
